Low Light Rubber Mats
The challenge to reproduce the LHD & RHD Karmann Ghia Low Light Mats took years from concept to realization. After hundreds of hours I created a handmade bulkhead mat, very close to the original! The Low Light community liked it and pushed me to go for the complete set! After consulting a company that specializes in professional mold making, I was successful in reproducing Low Light floor mats; two-sided/two colors, just like the originals!
NOW I am able to make a TOP THICK rubber layer on one side, that is pigmented Brown, Green, Gray or Black. The BOTTOM black thin rubber paint layer on the other side bonds into a single piece. This method makes it possible to reproduce the mats with texture in both sides! Now fabricated with pigmented rubber, no more wear with time!
The 3D scanned files helped in the mold design, as multiple registration post are needed. Nylon inserts are used to create the mat's mounting holes. When the manufacturing concept was confirmed, I offered to reproduce the complete set of 8 mats!
After a lot of work and thousands of dollars, and the support of ALL of you, I am finally in the position to manufacture Karmann Ghia Low Light mats!
